Privacy Policy
This privacy policy explains how WakeSpire ("we", "us") handles your information when you use the WakeSpire app and website (www.getwakespire.com).
1. Who we are
WakeSpire is operated by Wakespire B.V., registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 42133023, located at Sausalitolaan 274, 1031 KE Amsterdam, The Netherlands. For privacy questions, contact us at hugovandenbroek@gmail.com.
2. What we collect
- Account information — your name and email address when you sign in with Apple, Google, or an email link.
- Preferences — your first name and quote preferences (the type of daily quotes you want, such as personal, professional, or self-worth).
- Alarm settings — wake time, repeat days, sound, volume, and label.
- Block code — the unique code of your WakeSpire block, used to pair it with your account.
- Completed mornings — the dates on which you successfully dismissed an alarm with your block.
If you use the app as a guest, your name and quote preferences are stored on your phone only and never leave your device.
3. What we don't collect
We do not collect photos, contacts, location, health data, microphone or camera data, payment details, or advertising identifiers. NFC taps are not stored as a history — only the date of a successful alarm dismissal. We do not sell your personal data, we do not show ads, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
4. How we use your data
We use your data to provide the WakeSpire service, sync your settings across devices, improve the app, and respond to support requests. Our legal bases under the GDPR are performance of a contract and legitimate interest.
5. Data storage and retention
Your data is stored securely with Google Firebase on servers located in the European Union (europe-west region). We keep your data as long as you have an account. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Settings — your profile is then deleted and your WakeSpire block is deactivated. You can also request deletion by emailing us.
6. Third-party services
WakeSpire uses a small number of services to make the app work: Firebase Authentication (Google) for signing in, Cloud Firestore (Google) for storing the data listed above, Sign in with Apple, and Google Sign-In. The app contains no analytics, crash reporting, advertising, tracking, or in-app payment services.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict processing. Email us at hugovandenbroek@gmail.com to exercise these rights. You can also lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
8. Children
WakeSpire is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email.
